New England Aquarium Visit

I recently went to the New England Aquarium in Boston after a conference. I was amazed by the 200,000 gal tank that spiralled to the 8th Floor? I cant remember how high it was but the filtration system on that thing must be enormous. So here are a few pics. Sorry about the flash, you can see my hand in the reflection. All i had was a small digital. Anyway, enjoy and also try to figure out what is in the first set of pics.

I went there last summer, I have been to many Aquariums, and this one is by far the best. I too loved that huge center tank. Thay had huge puffer fish and dog fish in there, very cool.
If im not mistaken, isnt the second pic from the sea horse tank??
I loves the Jelly fish too...
I hope it wants to crowded whe you went, There was a middle school field trip there, and all I heard all day was "Wheres Nemo, Wheres Dori", "Wheres Nemo, Wheres Dori". A little annoying, but the place was still cool...

No doubt... I couldnt believe the number and types of fish in that 200,000 gallon tank. Yeah the second pic is from the seahorse tank. I have never seen seahorses like that before. It was too bad I couldnt get some better pictures. Those dont do the place justice. There was a field trip while I was there as well and the kids got a little annoying. I would definately go again next time Im in town. That tank was way cool.....

Funny, I always ask to be taken there for Christmas and Birthday gifts, but this year I am thinking of trying out the Mystic Seaport AQuarium insted. Anyone ever been there?

I was out there this past winter(Mystic). Pretty cool place youll dig it. The area of mystic is the bomb. We went to the boat museum as well and it is really cool. I think you will enjoy either. The Boston is just great because of that huge tank.... My fiancee lives out on the east coast right now so i have gotten spoiled lately. Has anyone been to the aquarium in Kentucky? Not sure where it is but I heard it is pretty cool too. If you have pics of big aquariums/museums. Post them here I would love to see more bit tanks...

Thanks mad1, Mystic does sound quaint and there is plenty to do. I was thinking of an overnight to hit other attractions as well, so thanks for mentioning the boat museum. :joy:

Be sure to take alot of money. They have some great fishing antiques stores. Very nice but a little on the high end. You should definately go. At the very least for a day trip. Its not that far from Mass. Enjoy and take some pics. I forgot my camera that trip...

Mystic is nice, not as big as the Boston one though. The Mystic village is awesome around Christmas time. There's lots of outlet stores around there too. If you go, get a place at either Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun, to spend the night. Other than that, there's not much else for night life in northern CT. They're both only 10 minutes at the most from there.

LOL, Howie, I will be bringing my 12 month old, not much for nightlife for me in general these days. Do you attend or work at UMD? I live right down the street.
