I brought a great looking fire goby yesterday. Some people
call them fire dartfish I think.
Well, he has taken up residence with my small red serpent star and my
emerald crab,in a little cave.Kinda like 3's company ...........The problem is
he won't come out and if he won't come out how will he eat ???? I've read these
fish are really shy. Will he come out once he feels more at ease?? He hasn't really eaten at all today. Any help is greatly appreciaed
TIA
Chelle

LionFish says......
FireFish are known to be shy. Mine hid in an old shell for 5 days until he found out he was the only fish in the tank. He now lives with a Six line wrasse. Try to get some brine in front of him and he should take it.

Thanx for all of your responses. He came out today and ate some spirulina flakes. We were, of course, watching him ooohhhhing and ahhhhhhing :) Guess I over reacted just a little.
Thanks again

Yeah don't sweat it. Mine sleeps under the rocks at night. It is cool to watch him sleep with a flashlight he actually leans against his little cave somewhat. He also shifts rocks about once a month.
Just make sure that you have a lid on your tank, firefish are known for their acrobactics which end them up on the floor!!!

I just got a group of 5 of them , they are doing great.... they never hid or anything, eating well the next day...... I read that you should have 2 or more because they are better in groups..... get another one right away so the other one dosn't get mean.... I only paid 12.00 each for mine...

I put a new firefish in my tank 3 days ago. When I introduced him into the tank I fed my other fish (a small clown and a small purplish/pinkish fish w/ a bright yellow tail) too. After the food was gone they immediatley started pecking on him. The next morning his tail was nearly gone! Yesterday, when I got home he was swimming slowly on the bottom. They act like sharks swarming around him. What can I do????? Will they leave him alone? Or peck him to death? I'm afraid when I go home today he'll be dead. Any suggestions?????
