hey there everyone....

i just added a new fish to my reef tank .... ( Carpenter Fairy Wrasse ) :happyfish
as of current i have a blue hippo tang
fuzzy dwarf lion fish
tomato clown
3 striped damsil
2 yellow tail damsils
electric blue damsil
mandarin dragonet
engineer goby
siscor tail goby
and a white ribbon eel.... (i know its not a fish but didnt know where else to put it)
now all of these are currently in my 100 gallon reef tank with lots of soft, lps, some sps corals now and a clam....
i wanted to add something with more color some color i dont have in the tank ... so i added the carpenters fairy wrasse.... its 3" and beautiful pink/red/yellow with dark stripes
ive never kept a wrasse before and i was just wanting peoples input on these fish and what i can expect with it and how hardy they are...
he seems active a little shy at first my 2 yellow tail damsils chased him around but now they are leaving him be.... hes looking at the rocks for food and hes already been eating frozen shrimp......
any information or your own experiences with a wrasse are welcome id like to learn about these fish they seem very interesting to watch
thanks!!!!
ill add a pic tomorrow when the lights are back on!!!

it aint no carpenter wrasse...where's the hammer loop and utility pockets... :hilarious
Very nice....almost thought it was a blue eyed anthias.
Hows the cap doing? Which LFS do you get your frags from?

lol thanks yeah i was wondering where its tools were too lol it could help me at work....
its a very pretty fish i was lookin for some cool color in my tank.... i mean i have my fuzzy dwarf lion but i wanted some pink
as for the cap its not doing so well about 1/2 of it has sucumed to algae overtaking it.... im not sure what caused this.... as of now my blue staghorn, red milli acro, purple encrusing monti, and some other yellow acro are doing well i have one other green stick of some branching acro which is not doing so well either... otherwise the milli and stag are growing pretty readily now i can see some growth on a regular basis....
im trying to fig out why some of my sps frags havent done so well all my softies and LPS are doing fine and so is my crocea clam and all fish
im thinking it might have to do with having a mixed tank of softies and sps i have 3 big softies in my tank a large colt about 15" tall with 5 seperate trunks about 2 inch diameter each, a 7 inch across toadstool and a decent size yellow devils finger....
im thinking of getting rid of those but they are nice looking
i get my sps frags at a store out here close to my house in southern california i havent found anyone i can trade with i dont know where to go for that but i do have lots of softies i could trade if i found someone

1: NICE FISH MURPH!!
2: If ya need to get rid of some coral . . . I could take those off your hands . .

3: What kind of wood does a carpenter wrasse use? I've not seen any wood in a SW
tank. :notsure:
4: I live in the "Boonies" (I love it btw) and they are located somewhat east of ya'll.

I don't think it's the softies creating algae bloom on your sps. I have all the softies that u mentioned in my tank (my toadstool is 10-12 inches diameter) and also have a devil's hand. Do you have enough flow for sps? Try playing around with the circulation and nitrate levels.

the boonies lol yeah i guess so

but my friends wife works at amgen she loves it there its a great company to work for....
well its good to know that an eel is actually a fish i never knew where to place him as a fish or what.... but thanks for the 411
yeah im trying to figure out why 2 of the pieces arent doing so well....
the cap and the green branching acro for lack of a better name have about 1/2 to 2/3rds died off and have a brown algae covering them.... my tank has about 17X's turnover i know that a bit low but i dont have a sump so it makes it more complicated having all of the power heads in the tank...
what would u suggest as far as flow for my tank.... the red milli acro the blue staghorn the purple porites and brown porites along with a yellow acro seem to be doing pretty well so far what would u suggest?
thanks
