I've got a couple of fish in quarantine for about 2 weeks now and they have shown no signs of ick. My question is should I begin hypo anyway or can I wait a week and then add them to my tank if there are no present signs of disease?

I would actually wait 2 wks before moving them back.
The decision to do hypo or not, is yours. They will be in there about another month if you do the procedure now. It is the SAFEST way to go, however.

I'm patient. My main tank will be done with hypo in 2 weeks and then I'm adding a ton of live rock. I don't want to battle ick again. I've gone to great lengths to eradicate the scourge, i think i'll do the hypo.

Ok, there are instances where I have seen here that ich may come in on LR [believe it or not]. During the 3rd stage of the parasites’ live cycle, it does “fall off” fish and does end up falling on sand and LR. Now, of course, this is only a problem if your LR has shared water with infected fish. To be absolutely sure, you could go ahead and hypo your current fish, and when you add the new LR, it will be going into a fishless tank too for a period of time [long enough to get rid of ich if it has any on it], thus eliminating the possibility of contamination.
If live rock tanks share filtration with fish tanks in fish stores.......then, well, you know the rest. You can ask you LFS about this, to see what he says.

My lfs has a few damsels and a nautiluses in there liverock pool. Should I buy the rock and put it in a rubbermaid tub for 3 weeks to ensure there is no ick. What should be in the rubbermaid tub ie heater? does it need good lighting?
