New fish

So I went to my LFS about a week ago and bought a clarkii and a cardinal fish. They assured me that they would be fine together. Well I woke up one morning to a horror scene. The clarkii had had bitten off all of the cardinals fins and the fish could not swim any more. I took him out and flushed him cuz I couldn't watch him suffer. I then called the LFS and they told me to bring in the clarkii and they would refund both of the fish. Now getting the clarkii out was another story. It took 45 minutes to get that dang thing out. I had to take apart the tank! So I finally got it and took it back and they sold me an aquacultured Picasso clown and a half yellow damsel. I was very hesitant to get the damsel because I read they can be quite aggressive and territorial. The LFS again assured me that they are a nicer and more peaceful species of damsel. So I got it, I noticed that the damsel was very very territorial with the clown. It would sit in the rocks and when the clown came ANYWHERE near the damsels rock it would go after the poor clown. :( the clown is stuck swimming along the front of the tank with the currents and back and will only be allowed to sit in the corner of the tank. The rest is for the damsel. I really don't want this to happen again because I love my Picasso clown alot! So should I take out my damsel and bring it back? Or is it just kind of a new fish thing and will cool down. I need answers fast cuz I don't want this poor fish to suffer:(

Get rid of the damsel...they are very mean little fish and will kill other fish you add later.. Clowns hang out in the corner of the tank, that's what they do.
Get rid of the damsel and get a dottyback or a Royal Gramma....I would get another clown too...I always kept two.

CalledI called my LFS today and they told me it would be a good idea to add a third fish to outnumber the damsel. The only way they will take it back is if it kills the clown fish sadly. So I am looking for a new fish to add. The guy recommended a Bennie but the one I love , the bi colored Benny lives in holes and caves. It seems the damsel has got all those covered so he also recommended a Pygmy dwarf angle. Any other types that would be good?

take out the damsel, a dwarf angel is to big for a 24g ..
you can get a blenny but it will most likely be beaten bu the damsel as that is what they do..
take the damsel to someone who has a big tank or tell the LFS you just want store credit...
if they say no dont shop there anymore..truthfully almost any store will atlest give you store credit for a fish
especially one you BOUGHT there...

Today I took the damsel back to the store I bought it from and they gave me credit so I picked out a purple firefish. The clown seems alot more at ease and is able to swim ANYWHERE he wants. But my next big question has to do with flow. I have 2 return nozzles that jet put of the back of my aquarium about mid depth in a very awkward place and I don't know which way to bend them to get max flow while allowing the fish to be able to swim. Usually it ends up like a whirl pool and the fish can't swim in it because the tank is suck an awkward shape. But I have tried everything but if anywhere has any ideas it would be much appreciated because I really am at a loss.

Can you post pics?
Slow down on adding anymore fish. You really should give your system at least 2 weeks between fish additions.

if you upload to photo bucket you can use the IMG tag and copy and paste it in...
as far as flow.. you can angle one upwards towards the top for aeration and one across the front ..you may have to add a nano powerhead for more streamline flow...
