i just got a new fish yesterday for my 12 gallon......the fish isnt quite appropriate for this size tank, but ill explain
. the new fish is a blue/green chromis who is about 2 inches long.
ok...the story: i went into my lfs about a month ago and what do i see....2 chromises in a little 5.5 gallon tank. both of them had wounds on their sides and unfortunately one of them died. the other lived in the 5.5 gallon for the next month. then i went in last week and they had the little guy in the same 5.5 gallon with 2 humbug damsels and 3 yellow-tailed damsels (i guess they figured that since a chromis is a type of damsel it would do well with these damsels
) and all was well for a day or so. i went in then 2 days ago and the little guy was still alive but being chased and nipped at by the other fish...and he was trying to avoid them at the surface. i figured he would do better in my 12 gallon then in a 5.5 gallon with 5 other damsels.
immediately the my clownfish and him became best buds and now they school together all day. he ate about a half hour after i put him in the tank...and he eats like a pig (i gotta get a little weight on him...he looks thinner than chromises normally do, and i believe the damsels kept him from eating well). he is a great little fish and now very active and happy
