I just brought a new flame hawk home and he hasn't eaten anything I offered, he looks healthy other than that but I understand these fish will usually eat anything...anyone have trouble getting a flame hawk to eat at first? I tried frozen brine, formula 1 and flakes...

Give him a few days to adjust to his new home. Let us know how he is doing. Mine started eating the day he moved in, it might take him a few days to adjust.

Live brine shrimp are irresistable to almost any fish- I put garlic in the water with the shrimp so they absorb it and it gets passed onto the fish. Works for me with new fish who are still shy and not eating.

DUDE!! Flame Hawks as well as any other hawk like Live Food, it helps them get started eating and keep their health. I always use Ghost Shrimp or Guppies.. they love them and its cool watching them go after them.. like a hawk!

I know its been said, however i just want to drive it home!!!!
give him a few days.....to get use to the surroundings. good luck
i had the same problem with my arch eyed hawk. but know he will eat like a horse. its sweet to see him dart to the surface and grab shrimp before any other fish is even close. and they will eat a lot.fast. my will eat brine shrimp whole in like 3 seconds.

Hey everyone...Thanks for your suggestions! I brought home a dozen ghost shrimpies today & watched my flame grab them up right away!!! :D :D What a relief! I also bought some live brine, I'll give that a try tomorrow...Anyway, just wanted to let you all know my hawk is eating now...and he's soooooo cool! I love the way he turns his head to look at me, he's really fun to watch. I hope he sticks around for a long time... :D :D
