New Frag Tank

Ok I know I had this thread going before - but this time it is for real. I am chimping out here a bit but that is just me. I have a two tanks kicking around, total volume between the two 70 gallons - they are 3 feet long by about 12 inches deep and the height are different by 2-1/4 inches. I plan on making a stand so the tops are level. I have a 250 watt MH light - with a 5000 K bulb, will this bulb work for growth. I was thinking about a 5 times turn over so about 300 to 400 GPH - with one bigger PH in each tank on the water return end to push towards the overflows. AS will also be used I am going to use the one from my 65 - 40 reef sump (just changed to a 10 gallon AS on this system). I was planning on siliconing strips to the sides of the tank to put eggcrate trays at different levels, I was planning on having different levels approximately 6 inches apart. Let me know what you guys think especially on the MH 5000K light. And of course I have drawings. Oh yah the sump is approx 25 gallons - I might have it dupinging into a 10 gallon that will hold the pump only (yes again chimping out) Thanks for now.

Al, I think you're just addicted to building stuff. I'm going to pm you some information to people you can talk to about this (professional people) who can help you. J/K, Bud. Looks like a nifty idea. Do I see tabs in the tanks for frag shelves?

Yes they are tabs for frag shelves, what do you think of the light bulb. I am already seeking medical attention up here, I think there is going to be an intervention.

Sorry Al....Honestly not sure on the 5000k bulb.....I do know that most that are primarily after growth use 6500k bulbs......Iwaski was a famous bulb used for growth and then they go up in kelvins for coloration......

Did do some quick searching and 5000k can be used for growth, but coloration would come from your 03 side.....

Thanks Shawn - I did some searching as well and 6500K was for growth like you said - Maybe I will add some T5HO actinic down the road. Thanks buddy and hope you are having a great TG holiday
