Ok so im new to this salt water tank stuff but im getting started and went through all the cycling and all that but looking around at other peoples set ups I have a few ?'s. I have a 29g tank with live rock, sand and a copperband and a clown.
Ok I got live rock from the local pet store and its just like 2 huge rocks can I break this up to make it look different and stack them different or is this not a good idea?
Also Id like to add some annenomes too but im a lilttle confused from conflicting information do I superglue them to a rock or do i just let them float and get to the rocks somehow?
Sorry for what may seem stupid ?'s but im new and learning

You can break the rock if you want, its up to you. And if you don't have corals or anything the anemones can eat, you can just let them move around your tank until they find a spot they like.

yes, you could break the rock if you want. its only rock.
what kind of lighting do you have? anemone's require strong lighting.
if you want to glue it down i would put it in the tank and let it pick its spot and settle down itself. they will find the spot themselves that they are comfortable with (with flow and light).

+1 and get rid of the copperband. It has no place in a small tank. Check out the nano section when you get a chance. Lots of small tanks, and a lot of people with experience in keeping small reef tanks.

First let me welcome you to the boards!

Now I am by far no expert..I do know from this site and by making the mistake myself..Your tank should be at leat 6 months old before you can keep an anenomie and have it survive...Also as someone else has already stated it takes very high quality lighting to succesfully keep these creatures.

Ya thanks I have been reading about the lighting and was told that as well but I was just wondering I would deff have to purchase a light for annenomes

Just wondering when you brake up the rock do you see any black areas that would be where you anaerobic bacteria is colonizing if so how much do you see

yes, you would definitely have to purchase powerful lighting for anemone. there is no way around it. also, i would research the anemone you are thinking about before buying it. carpet anemones get to be as big as a trash can lid, and will eat your fish and inverts if it has the chance.
and no, you can't glue an anemone anywhere and expect it to remain healthy.

lol. yeah. last night when i got home, I saw my anemone on my zoa frag, i had to shake him off. +1 on getting a better light hopefully metal halides. +1 on getting rid of the copperband. that tank is too small. take him back to the LFS and try to get another clown to pair up with yours. break up the rock as much as you want. what lighting do you have on right now?

yes, you need to wait 6 months, and there is no looking into it, unfortunately, that copperband needs to go back ASAP, in a tank that size, and as new as yours is, its quite literally a death sentence for him, they're a beautiful fish, but, require expert care, and established tanks
