I recently bought this hammer coral at a LFS for $20. I really like it but i was wondering if i can split the two heads. The heads both have a mouth and i was just wonderng if i could split one off where it comes from the main branch and glue it somewhere else in the tank?

Its not fully open in picture becuase my lights just came on.

you sure can, I would reccomend cutting the stalk at the intersection with a dremel, cutoff wheen tile saw, rotozip or similar tool, (even a hacksaw balde will work) I reccomend against using snips dikes or other "crush styler cutters on a skeletal structure like euphyllia have as it can do serious skeletal damage possibly splitting up the stalk into the heads. I have snapped them by hand before but that skeleton looks fairly thick and I dont think you would be succesful by hand. a good cutoff tool is a fraggers friend.

I got a hammer w/8 branches last year and it broke when I moved it one time (pretty thin stalks, unlike those thck ones on yours), and both parts are doing great.
