Just setup my new Aqualight Pro. The PC came right on and so did the LED. But the HQI MH does not come on? I here the fan and the ballast come on. It says it may take up to 5 min for full light. Should I have any light by 2 mins?????? Please help. Not sure if I should leave it on for a while? Thanks

Leave it on for a while. If you turn off the ballast then immediately turn it back on it'll take longer to light again.

So when I turn it on for the first time I will have NO LIGHT at all for 2 or 3 min or more? That is how it is for now. I'm going to turn it on and leave it for about 10 mins and see what happens???

That's correct. It shouldn't take much more than that though.

Now the new MH has been on for 25 min and no light. I got it off the Doc fish site. Just my luck!

One hr now, and still no light on. Is there somthing I should know? With all the house lights off I can see about 1/4 of an watt of purple light in the bulb. I guess it will go back soon!

I played with the power cord and switch, not the inside of the unit and bulb. Its brand new so i thought it would be ready to go. The ballast did not get hot after an hr or more, is this normal? Thanks

I've had my aqualight pro 250 for a year almost to the day. As soon as the fixture comes on it begins to light. It takes about 5 min before the voltage levels off and bulb comes to operating temp then you'll see a slight sudden shift in light if you watch close enough. About two months ago I had a problem where my bulb would not get very bright and would stay very yellow. The actinics were brighter than the halide. My frist thought was the bulb went bad so off to the local fish store I went. Put in the new bulb with hopes of light. The fixture would buzz a little less but the light seemed worse. I took apart the ballast box and found the capacitor had gone bad. Easy way to tell is there is usually a bulge in the casing. Mine happed to be cracked and the silicon had oozed out. I wrote to their customer service via e-mail and turns out they have an updated capacitor. I installed the new one and fixture seems brighter than ever.
Other than that inccident I am very happy with my aqualight. Fan became noisy once so i cleaned it off and all is well.

it should come on within the first 10- 20min. the same thing happend when i first got mine.i would turn it on and nada! so i would turn the ballast off every time cause i thought i would ruin the ballast , until i called the manufacturer support and he told me let it run! so i did and eventually came on.about 15 min.
