my new leather hasn't opened up completely yet, and I'm starting to get worried. I got this guy on sunday, so it's going on three days now. My tank is a 125 with 4x96w pc's, but he came from underneath Halides. Do you this this is the reason for the slow adjustment? I read the someone else's post about yellow rotting flesh, and mine has a little too. I'm getting nervous. Do you think the yellow spots will die off and are a result of transfering, or is it necessary I try and cut them off?

It looks like a little algae growth to me. When it sheds its skin it will all come off. Give it a little time to adjust to its new surroundings. You can rub the algae off with your finger if y ou like, but there is no real reason to. Just be patient and keep an eye on it.

I'm still pretty new at this, so I'm not exactly sure if there's a specific type. The guy I bought it off of had an unbelievable 500gal tank and had this posted simply as a "leather". $90! I really couldn't pass it up, not to mention it came with that decent sized rock and with all the green polyps on it. I just want to be certain that it makes it through.

its also called a toadstool leather and will close up for a few days at a time when it goes through growth spurts to shedd off a layer of skin so to speak.

lol, that is way too big. my god, it looks like it's about the size of a basketball. Haha, I don't even know how yet, but you'd better believe i'd be fragging the crap out of that thing. If mine was a little bit bigger, I think it'd be perfect for my tank.
