New Icecap VHO stopped working!

I installed a DIY Hood with an Icecap 440 and 2 URI 24 inch VHO bulbs this weekend. It was working fine until this morning. Now both bulbs come on very dim for about a second and then go out every time I plug it in. I use water proof encaps. I have taken out both bulbs and reseated them. No effect. Does anyone have any ideas? The bulbs are brand new, could one of them be defective? Thanks!

i had that problem too but it was my wireing. also the endcaps need to be on very tight had that problem too. my light would flicker or try to come on and shut off. that is probably just the surge going through giving off an arc and then going away. check out alll the wireing and make sure the copper pices arent touching. tighten the endcaps and push them in a little on the bulb to make sure there seated good. hth i had lots of trouble with them too. one more thing, are your endcaps mounted? i tried using them not mounted and the endcaps slowley slid back enough to make it not light.

Thanks everyone. It was a bad bulb. Only three days old and it stopped working. I put the only other bulb I had extra on and it is working again. So now I have both super actinic. My tank is really blue! Got some more bulbs on order.
