what would be a good size tank for an in wall application? are there any BIG pros or cons that should be considered before embarking on a project such as this? im considering an in wall reef tank separating two rooms, and im trying to find out a little bit before jumping in and getting myself in trouble.

i have to remember what site it was on but someone put in a 800 gal in wall unit. not very tall at all just long and wide. he blackened out the sides of the tank to make it look as if it goes on forever. and he also pulled out a 6 1/2' bristle worm that was living in his pvc (used to stabilize rock work) in the tank. tank has been running for about 2 years.

for all the work you'd do to install an inwall tank you'll probley want to go no smaller than 125, you'll need to have a room behind the tank to store equipment and sump
dmjordan- are you talking about oregon reef? im pretty sure theres a website for it to take a look at to see how they installed it

Most inwalls ahve the equipment in a room behind it. Building a tank between 2 rooms is a whole different deal.

thats pretty much it...just bulid the stand up and into the wall and set the tank on there so it is flush with the wall in the room you will be viewing it from.

you just have to be creative.....
you can move the tank to the end of the wall and have it viewable from 3 sides or you can put it in the middle of the wall , either way you will need to make the whole wall wider to fully enclose the tank so that it is flush with the wall (you will also need to put in access doors and/or panels for lighting, plumbing, cleaning, feeding, etc...
what I would do if you have the $$$$ is cut a huge hole in the middle of the wall and frame it out to be as wide as the tank. add a nice heavy glass top on it and turn your tank into a nice bar style aquarium. granted this will have to be a FO because of lighting issues but would be sweet none the less.
