I just got rid of my cc and replaced it with 41/2"sand bed + 1/2 live sand on top. Also changed my lights from two fixtures of two 30W flourescent each to two smart PC 96W each. Sudden algea bloom. Should I just wait it out?

yep...the change in the sand bed may cause a mini-cycle (rebuilding bacterias and such)...and the added lights can definitely be known to cause an algae bloom as the algaes all catch up to the new lighting situation. you may want to try a shorter photo period for a few days just to help acclimate the tank to the new lighting.
