new lights and hood design

Thinking of changing my hood over 120g tank
Making it from wood, Like current hood.
Upper and Lower Sections so it would probably be 4 ' tall.
Lower section house lights, any suggestions on best lights for general reef tank?
Upper section house refugium with gravity feed return to tank. Heard this was best for safely getting pods and live brine shrimp back to tank.
Anyone ever do this?
See any problems with this plan? Upper section lights would be on 24/7, think that would cause tank to be too hot? Would use wood as a divider between upper and lower sections. would that be enough insulation?
Would heat from lights in lower section effect refugium?

Never heard of that but it sounds like a cool idea. As far as heat goes maybe you could get some foam board insulation and put it between the layers to minimize heat exchange.
