I have had the coralife 4x65 actinic, white and blue moon lights for the last 2 months and got a nice deal and sold them and got the orbit 4x 96w actinic, white with WHITE moon lights. Here is my review......for all you of you I have a 90 gallon tank so a little deeper.
Coralife: Seemed fine, fans were smaller than the orbit but of course 260w so less heat. This was lighter but the legs you purchase for it were very flimsy and in 2 months we had already replaced 3 of them. Very much enjoyed these lights, but did notice when the moons were on rather dark and hard to see much but did seem pretty as a blue night light in the room. This came with 4 blue moons. Moons had a separate on off switch that the orbit does not but all do have separate plugs (we always left moons on anyway)
Did not affect my tank temp I don't think, or very little. Was thin so tried to center it at top best we could. Nice starter light. We noticed that anything we put on the bottom sand did not do well if it needed any light at all, even mushrooms needed to be moved up just a couple of inches at least.
Orbit: What a difference!! The entire setup seems more stable. Bigger light and much larger fans. Quiet like the coralife. BRIGHT!! Even just the actinics, it is like the water is this gorgeous turquoise blue, brighter blue....more crystal looking. Today will be first full day of brights on so will have to tell you about tank temp then but the fans are big so not too concerned. The moons I was worried about being I got used to the blue and there were to be white. LOVE THEM. I actually find that I can see much better when all the lights around us are off, we can see the lights coming off the rocks so we actually had the opportunity to see critters moving where with the coralife it was just too dark but pretty. This does seem to be more like real moon and the nightlight in the room just as pretty now that I have seen both. There are 4 white moons on this system. They have their own plug in but no on/off switch. Again, we kept ours on all the time, so not a big deal for us. The casing on the light is much nicer and bigger seems more sturdy and thicker not so plastic looking and appears more as a topper than the other. The legs are so much nicer, more stable. Only neg is I have to have my canopy fitted to have an opening cut out at the end for the fans, but truthfully, might just keep the canopy off now, it simply is easier to manage the tank without it and this light looks nice! I AM VERY PLEASED. I have posted a picture with just my morning actinics on so you can see the bright blue, hope you can tell but not sure......Happy orbit customer.
