New lights installed

yep I took the kessil off and switched to the crappy aqua Mars light...I've had them before and both my brothers and dad have them and they work great so it's not a real new experience for me I guess lol...anyways all I did was go to lowes and grab some of those fancy chain links and fancy hooks and painted everything black to match the lights and here's the results...not to bad I think lol I know it's a bit higher on the left then the right but I'm waiting until it's darker out so I can see where the light is exactly shining before I make final adjustments...it does look like I'm going to need another one to cover the entire surface though :~{ you can see in the last one where it doesn't get the front half of the tank so good...it's not as bad as it looks in the pic but it bothers me lol

The light position seems kinda high but I assume this is just to light up the tank rather than obtain beneficial effects needed by a tank with corals?

yeah I guess I don't know a ton about how close lights need to be to your corals...I only have zoas and they are half to 3/4 way up the DT...the light I have hanging is about 11" from the top of the water...I thought that is what I had heard for the recommended height of lights...I could very well be totally off with this lol...any opinions or ideas are appreciated thanks

I'd be more concerned about the nem than the zoas. You might start slowly lowering it. You don't want to burn anything.

i will say this though...ever since I switched lights my nem does not stretch as hard as it can to reach up for the light anymore so that's a good thing I would say...but yeah I guess idk if there is a standard height for your lights to be mounted above your water

Should have enough power for the nem with those. You generally get better color blending keeping them a little higher due to the layout of the emitters. My fixtures sit about 12" above the water line.

yeah I wish there was more of a recommendation that came with the lights...no idea how much I should have each of the white and blue knobs cranked either lol...keeping them both at about 75% and yeah im at about 11-12" above the water
