New Lights. You like?

I currently have two 48" Nova Extreme fixtures with 2x54 watts each. Each fixture has one 10k daylight and one 460nm actinic with individual parabolic reflectors.

I'm getting the 48" Nova Extreme Pro 6x54w Slimpaq T5HO for christmas. These have 6x54 watts, three 10k daylights, and three 460nm. The best part is the actinics and daylights are on two separate switches which makes life a little easier.

I'm excited, but am wondering how to go about acclimating everything to 108 extra watts of light. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

this is the light i use... i really like it...
idk much about acclimating to lights but what i have read says to use layers of screen between the light and water... and remove one layer at a time every so often...

I wouldn't worry about it. I went from PC to MH and my coral never cared, just started growing better...
The coral should adjust. If you see any looking bleached out move it a little lower in the tank for a while.

What bulbs do you prefer? I was starting to look for some to replace the ones in my existing fixtures, but then my wife told me she was getting me the pro for christmas. My existing ones still have about 3-4 months left in them.

My lights were finally delivered to my house per fedex tracking. It says they left them at my front door. I sure hope they are there when I get home or I will be pissed!

Obama Su.... Oh wrong thread

What size tank you putting it over?
Doing 4 Blue lamps, ATI Blue Plus, Gmann Actinic Plus or Aquascience 22000K Blue
With one reddish lamp, KZ Fiji Purple, UVL Actinic White or 75/25
and one GE Daylight or Giesemann Midday looks really nice.

just so you know, the two switches dont exactly control actinics and whites.
there are two bulbs on 1 switch and 4 on the other.
so with the bulbs that come with the product you get 3 of each.
the way they set this up it would be better to use the API blue bulbs instead of actinics to get the growing and still get the blue light.

Yea, I noticed the amount of bulbs controlled by the switches after installing. If you put the bulbs in an alternating pattern, then one switch lights up two actinic and one daylight and the other will light up the remaining actinic and both remaining daylights. I also wanted to add that I absolutely love these lights. Even with the fans it is super quiet. I'll put up an FTS later tonight.

I picked up this same light for my 55g a few months ago. I really like it. I went from 130w PC to this and thought I put a suntanning bed in my office for the first couple weeks.

When I first set up this last tank, the house would glow (literally) from every window at night. I was sure the cops would stop by one day to see if I was growing some weed or something

LOL. It's an eerie blue that you can see from the street.
