New LR

I just received a LR shipment (50 lb), direct from the ocean I guess. I put it in a tank of salt water and there are some visible creatures on it - some small flea like things and a red worm the diameter of an earthworn and about 3/4 inch long. Should these things be gotten out of a tank or are they just part of the territory? Any help would be appreciated,

A lot of the bug things are good. They later become fish food

sounds like you got your lr mo. if so make sure the lr is cured before adding fish. as far as the bugs and worms thats the stuff you want. heres a site maby you could id some of your stuff.

the worm like things are probably bristle worms if they look like centepedes w/ bristles all over them; most all are harmless to your tank; some say the large ones might eat fish or corals; only 2 species are known to dine on corals; they make great additions to your tank as they help keep it clean & healthy; DO NOT TOUCH them w/ your bare hands though; the bristles will have various effects ranging form mild stinging sensation to days of numbness
