New Member, lots of tanks w/ pics

Hello all, My name is Jason. I am very familiar with freshwater (not all that complicated) and only about 3 months into the hobby of saltwater. I have already purchased 2 saltwater tanks. I am familiar with forums, but do not yet know the "gist" of this one. I am a member of Chargerforums.I would like to let you all know ahead of time that I have overstocked every aquarium I've owned for years, and realize with marine fish you can't necessarily do that. So spare the overstocking comments.
I currently have a 125 gallon cichlid/everything tank

(2 oscars, 3 clown loaches, 2 yoyo loaches, many mixed african/south american cichlids, large bala shark, 1 HUGE silver dollar, 2 small silverdollars, school of medium-sized tiger barbs, 2 rosy barbs, 1 huge feeder goldfish, 7 giant danios, 2 jack dempseys, 1 pictus catfish, 2 large blood parrot cichlids, other various catfish, 4 cory catfish (huge fat things that somehow survived) and more. I am probably breaking every rule in the book with this tank, but have experimented for several years and this tank has been stable with all of its inhabitants for over a year. I have dual fluval 405's and a marineland biowheel filter rated at 60 gallons.
A 42 Bowfront tank

(1 black belt cichlid I CAUGHT in a pond locally here in Indiana, he's about a foot long. Shy but beautiful, pics are horrible. Also 2 giant danios, 2 catfish, and other various cichlid species including a jack dempsey This tank hasbeen stable for just under a year.)
A 20 Gallon community tank

(everything imaginable haha)
NOW to saltwater
75 Gallon Reef Tank

(Sailfin tang, Purple Wrasse, one 4 spot damsel, 2 electric blue damsels, 1 lawn mower blenny, a javanese damsel, 1 royal gramma, 1 TR percula, and 1 ocellaris clown. Used to have all kinds of coral and anemone, but when my fish got ich real bad from ***** fish, I removed them and my heater didn't work in QT tank and they died when I left for 3 days. (I treated tank with copper, and removed coral and inverts. I also replaced 75 gallon tank and the rocks inside once done w/ copper treatment, as the original tank had scratches anyway) Anyway now all I have is about 4 mushroom frags.)
90 Gal LR & FO tank.

(Niger Trigger, Maroon Clown pair, Powder Blue Tang, Dogface Puffer, Flame Hawkfish, Hardwicki Wrasse, 2 Electric Blue Damsels, 3 Yellowtail damsels, Bicolor Angel, A Whitetail trigger (chocolate w/ white tail?) and a snowflake eel.)
Equipment is bioball filters on both w/ overflow, and the 90 gal has a 350gph canister filter on it as well.
Anyway nice to meet all of you, here are some pictures of my various tanks and tank setups. I buy them all of craigslist already setup w/ water and everything, have spent less than 1000 on all 3 large tanks (125, 90 and 75 gal including all media) I work at petland so my fish cost is really cheap.

Welcome to Saltwaterfish.com!
You obviously enjoy the hobby to have so many tanks. Looks like you may have a dedicated room to tanks.
You were right about marine tanks not faring well overstocked. Overstocking is the biggest mistake that new hobbyists make. With marine fish, the individual requirements of the species needs to be taken into consideration, as well as compatibility with other potential tank-mates. Sounds simple, but it is actually requires a lot of planning and consideration.
Hope you decide to stick around and enjoy our forums.

yeah I've noticed that. I have found that with aggressive freshwater fish if the tank is WAY overstocked they give up on defending territories and the MEANEST fish become friendly and all is well. I just tripple my filtration. I will be experimenting a little, since I work at a pet store and can return a fish with no problem if a problem occurs and I also get them so cheap. However, I do not wish to end a fish's life.

Where do you put your couch?
Welcome.

lol this is the hallway leading to all the rooms downstairs, so it's a high traffic area, and didn't have a couch. It was empty, now is full of life and awesome! lol :)

Hey Jason welcome...if you decide to get into corals there is a member here on the boards named Mitch...member name is Flinka. He too lives in Carme., IN and I have picked up some frags from him before. Great guy to maybe hunt out on here. I also believe he is a member of some local reef clubs in your area if you are interested.

It was a couple of months ago I stopped by his house...I remember him being about 5 minutes due east of downtown Carmel. I don't want to post his email address without his permission, but see if can use the search feature to find him. I just double checked and flinka is the correct spelling of his SWF nickname. The neatest thing he keeps that are hard to find is mini carpet anemones.
