New MH on its way for my 29

Hey all! I am very excited - I should have a new MH set-up over my 29 Gallon tank.
250 Watt XM 10K and 26 watts of Actnic PC supplement (think I might need more - will wait and see)
I am stoked - I am picking up a 2" long blue maxima clam this weekend .... so the MH's will be about 3 days behind the clam .... now I just need a new digital camera.
I am very excited :jumping: :jumping: :jumping:

"DUDE" you should be excited...and im excited for you too...and jelous....thats the same lighting im going to put on my 20 along with my 130 watt PC....but have to wait untill funds permit
what setup did you go with exactly?? pendent??? fixture with PC inside??? electric ballast or magnetic??? and how much did you spend total???
thats awesome about the maximas....stock up on DTs....
dont tell anyone else but iv had my crocea under 202 watts PC for 7 months and he has grown nicely...but i want to make him happier with the MH
please keep us posted on the MHs...how setup goes and changes you see in the tank.......sand (diatom outbreak) and how the coral react...also coral growth

I got a 250 watt MH magnetic ballast from that HELLO place for LIGHTS. I also bought a new VHO tube for my lagoon tank and another PC light so I spent about $200 in all.
It is a 10K 250 Watt MH retrofit kit. I will mount it in my canopy.
The clam is tiny and will be feeding off of my homegrown plankton .... the clams can survive on lower light with spot feedings and phyto - once they get larger it is imperitive to have the good lights! So you should be OK for a while!
Once i get it installed I will get some pictures.

Hey I have a 175 w Mh Pendant over my 29g....I have a huge outbreak of diatoms on my glass, sand(espescially), and my Live Rock..what do you guys do to get rid of the diatoms..I bought 12 astrea snail's but theres still some Diatoms..they seem not to eat the Diatoms off the sand>?? Any suggestions?:jumping:

fighting conch! I got one and it is huge (ordered it online expecting a tiny one and it is 2 1/2" long .... )
That or nass. snails will burrow into the substrate and get rid of the diatoms ....
I am dreading the diatoms!!
