New nano tank

It all depends. If this is your first try at saltwater I would steer away from any type of nano, but if you do chose a nano go with a 30, 29, or a 20 long. That is just my opinion. Whatever you do dont be stingy with the live rock. That is the key in a nano.

Hmm if you are just doing a trial tank and not looking long term then I'd look @ a 30 gallon .... if you are looking long term and think a smaller tank would be good then I'd suggest a 55-75 gallon. If you really want to make a go of a first time nano and have some money to blow I'd go with a 5 gallon and see how you do (if you can handle the 5 gallon and keep up with teh temp/water quality/water testing of a 5 then you could do a slightly larger nano which is more stable in some ways and hard to handle in a lot of others ....
good luck!
