New Nano

Hi everyone,
Well this is my first Nano and I am very proud of it so far. It's been up for 2 weeks now and all the levels seem to be in line. So right now I have:
1 Maroon Clown
1 Sixline Wrasse
5 Hermit Crabs
Do anyone have any suggestions of what else I should put in there? I would like to do corals as well. I have posted a pic as well to give you an idea of what it looks like.
Thanks for the help,
Michael

I would just take it easy for awhile, I know that is easier said then done
Just let your tank get a little more established, maybe 2-4 weeks then start adding some easy corals such as mushrooms or zoas. Tank looks nice though, I like your rock work. Love the sixline

Looks really good so far. Make sure you take your time with adding things. You don't want to crash your tank. I would wait for at least a couple of weeks before you add any coral. Monitor your levels carefully as you are still not *really* out of the red zone on a possible cycle showing up. Aside from that it looks great!

Welcome to the boards... the best advice I can give is take is slow... although easier said than done.. you will be rewarded in the end with a healthy stable tank.
Everything looks great. Keep up on good housekeeping, testing your water, get a weekly water change schedule established and read read read... I wouldnt add another fish to your tank at all.. maroons are very aggressive with their territory and being in only a 24, or 29 gal tank he will claim it all. Good luck and keep up with posting pics as things progress.

Thanks for the compliments and it is easier said than done but I will take the advice of going slow. The live rocks that I have came out of my 75 gal and the water is already mixed from LFS.
I hope to make all of you proud of the progress of my new nano.

Hey Subielover or anyone out there for that matter... what does a koralia nano do for the nano tank? I also have protein skimmer but have not put it in yet. Should I put it in or just leave everything the same?

I'd wait about another week or two for the skimmer, especially wait until your cycle is completed. It looks really good so far I like the aquascape. I would add a few snails and maybe some shrimp of your choice...I went with Peppermint Shrimp, because I had a aiptasia problem :/
What are your water params and temp looking like?

Well the koralia nano or maxi-jet or the like are all types of powerheads. There main job is to circulate the water and to get some flow for your inhabitants. Generally a good rule of thumb is you want about 20x turnover per hour in your tank, meaning if you have a 14 gallon then you want roughly 280gph(gallons per hour.)
What parameters have you been testing for so far?

Cool I will check out the powerheads and see if I can pick up one. Chroniccoral35 I will pick up a few snails along the way. So right now my perimeters are looking like:
Nitrates:20 ppm
Nitrite:0 ppm
Alkalinity: +180 ppm
pH: 8.2
Temp:78 degrees
I ended up putting two peppermints in the tank as well

Keep checking your levels on daily basis. Our 150 didn't hit ammonia spike until 3rd week and it was very slight. I had fully cured LR and LS that was used for the setup.

ChronicCoral that's a good question and I don't have a clue. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I just want it to be as close to a reef as possible...and I don't mind a challenge to help me in my hobby.

Any type of a Shrimp Goby and Pistol Shrimp combo! Those are so much fun to watch. I have a Tomiyama Shrimp Goby + Pistol Shrimp and the yare constantly busy at work under their 2 rocks.

Hey Spiderwoman I will check my LFS for the two that you named. So I checked my ammonia levels and they are 0 mg/l and I went back to throughly check all the other levels and everything still came out safe.
So my only concern now is feeding. I've been feeding my fish every other day. And I have been feeding them frozen brine with omega. Since there is only 2 fish in there...how do you suggest that I feed them? It dosen't make sense to feed them a whole cube. What should I do?

IMO I would nix the whole brine shrimp thing all together. Stand alone it holds no nutritional value for your fish, added omega will help but doesnt provide all the essential things necessary for their health. As a general rule I feed no more than what can be consumed in 1 minute esp for only 2 fish. I would recommend avoiding frozen foods with gel binders but to start Formula 1 frozen is a decent food. Then I would locate a good quality food like "Rods Food" or even a home made batch. There are many recipes in these threads.

adding the coral's is not as big of a deal as adding that clown JMO. Seems a little early for fish
but if everything is ok you dont ahve to wait for the corals...add em
Looks good so far
