New Oceanic Reef Ready

I just purchased and set up my new 92 gallon, corner, Oceanic Reef Ready tank with built in overflow. I have a Sealife tricle filter. My question is: The over flow runs the length of the tank (about 25"). Should the whole overflow fill up? Currently, it only fills up about 6"-7" and is quite noisy. When I tried to fill it completly, it ran the wet dry over. Thanks!

No, should not fill up all the way, you saw what happens when it does. The holes are at the top, so if your power goes out you sump won't overfill. Oceanic has a nice setup and it works well enjoy. :)

P.S. as far as the noise, that is what happens with all overflows....there is a way to build something into the overflow to make it quite, someone once gave a web page for it. Try running a search on overflows and you might find the site. It sounds loud at first, but trust me you get used to it and after awhile you barley notice it. I have the Oceanic bow front and I thought the same thing, but now it doesn't bother me at all, and I barley realize the noise.

Hey congrats on the new tank - sounds like a real beauty !
I don't have built in overflows on my tanks :(
Overflows are pretty loud when you are first getting used to them as goofieones said, especially when brand new. After awhile, after they've been up and running a bit, they appear to make less noise. At least mine did.

I have an 110 oceanic rr. The water should only be 5 in or so deep. It will get deeper as the sponge filter clogs up then you rinse it. It can be a little noisey but there is another way to modify it called a stove pipe method if you decide you cant take the noise, I will see if I can find the link.

Thank you for the info! When I stated that it was "noisy", that was my wife's concern. I rather like it. It put me to sleep nice last night!

Noise concerns, does the top of your over flow have a top/lid. If not you can make one out of plexiglass and it will reduce the noise a great deal.
Or you can go the cheap way, but it works:
Get a piece of styrofoam and cut it so it fits tightly into the overflow box. If the foam is not real thick it will NOT affect the water flow into the box. I used this set up for a while and it reduced the noise a great deal. Think about it styrofoam is used for what insulation!
