New Overflow and Feeding

I just hooked up a sump and new overflow and have a quick question about feeding. I usually drop a couple of pinches of dry flakes in before I leave for work every morning and, with the new overlfow, I notice that most of them end up in my sump. Any feeding tips with overflows other than "don't feed dry flakes"?

soak the flakes in tank water or just pinch it under the water and the flakes will sink rather than float on the surface and get sucked into the overflow. or just feed a variety of frozen which you would have to thaw first. hth

Thanks. I soak in Zoe when I have more time and will just start doing that or, like you suggest, water before putting it in.
