Hey awsome Tank. let me ask you a question. I have blue sand and I want to know if I could turn my 75G tank into soft coral. I read a lot of post here and most people siad that you need a live sand to start with soft coral. I have my tank set-up with the blue sand about 2-3 year. It's okay to start with that because I don't want to change my blue sand. I have a 30 gallon sump, caniters filter is Eheim brand. And what type of light do you sugggest that I use amd What type of light do you use. As of right now I have PC light. Sorry for asking you too many question this is my first time learning how to take care of corals. Since I saw your reef tank and other people soft coral tank I was inspire how beutiful to have one.

Thanks for the compliments and helping others with questions is why many of us are here so ask as many as you would like. :)
You can use you sand and seed it with a cup of live sand from another reef keepers tank. You can put the sand in a knee high stocking and let it sit on your sand for about 3-4 weeks to seed it. Then you can remove the stocking and discard it. Your sand will then be live.
The reason you see most with white sand is because it is Aragonite sand that helps buffer the PH keeping it stable. Other than that, Almost any sand is fine. Sand made from silicates is not the greatest but it works. Can cause some nasty algae growth though.
Any more questions, Feel free to ask.

As of rigth now I have PC light that I'm using. Also I know almost all people here are having problem with nirate. Whats the good way to keep nirate down. Because since I've start my SW I have nirate problem
. I tried so many way to keep my nirate as low as possbile, but I'm still having problem to stable it. My nitrate been going up and down and I have a 30g sump with fuge. Also within the sump I have some type of plant called calerpa. Please any suggestion would be appriate. :help:

You should have at least 1 pound of rock per gallon of tank. Half can be non-live "Base" rock and the other half live. This saves you a lot of cash and in 6 months it will all be live rock. You do need rock for many corals.
Soft corals don't need intense lighting for the most part. Depending on the size tank and amount of watts you have they may be fine for soft corals only. T5HO would be a lot better and Metal Halides are the best. With Metal halides you can keep almost any type of Coral. Most, If not all with the right amount of T5HO.
Clams consume Nitrates! You can use "Cleaner Clams" available on this website to accomplish this. Put them in your fuge. I would also suggest some Cheato over the Calurpa as it seems to consume nitrates better and will not go sexual on you and crash your tank.

Thank you I did not know that I could turn my dead rock into live rock. Thats cool. If I'm going to live rock should I get cure or not cured and how much should I get for my 75 gallon tank. What kind of MH light should I get. I want to have at lease enough watt for my 75G tank and enough to keep couple of frogpawn, couple of anemone, and hammer coral. What kind of light are you using and how big is your tank. Do you know anywebsite that I could buy the lights And also what is cheato? Sorry this is the first time I heard about this cheato. Where could I buy that?

nice spics. however RESIZE THEM. You will get more responses if they are not so large. No one likes to scroll all the way across to see the whole thing. Just a suggestion 500x500.

I found a light that I like is a 48" Aqualight Elite Series Metal Halide Hood. It has two 175W 10,000K Metal Halide Daylight Lamp(s)and two 96W True Actinic 03 Blue Compact Fluorescent Lamps. Do you think this is a good light. What kind of light are you using and how big is your tank. Do you know anywebsite that I could buy the lights And also what is cheato?
