what setting do you use on your camera to get such a clear pic?

May I suggest to jump start that cycle. Either get from a friend or a trusted LFS a couple pounds of grunge from their sump fuge what have you. The shrimp idea has a major flaw in that there isnn't much if any helpful bacteriato start the process. Jhmo

I set the camera to Manual mode and use manual focus. Don't use a flash because it reflects off the tank.
I then imported it into Photoshop and edited until I liked the result
