I picked up this pink leather and just had to post some pics of it, all have more after its fully inflated enjoy

I hate to say this, but i think its dyed. I have been in the hobby forever, and had never seen one of these till afew weeks ago at my lfs. I was about to buy it except it had no price and was in a tank alone. When I asked about it the lfs told me he did not order it, the distributor sent it to him, and he really didn't want to sell it because it was dyed with food coloring, thats why it was seperate from the other livestock. Sorry to tell you this, but i think i am correct.

well i'll let you know if it is or not, the lfs that i got if from had about four of these leathers and they were in a tank with livestock and other corals

how would you dye that

i havent seen anything like that either, but i think its dyed too. probably do it the same way they dye freshwater glassfish, injections i think.

They just dip them. A sure sign of dyeing is when they are uniformly the same color all over, stalk and polops, brissles are all the exact same color. Its being done alot unfortunetly.

My lfs said they usually die before they grow. The one he had was still in the tank when i went back afew weeks later, but it was clearly dieing.

will it get all tiny flowers on it? The last couple pictures look like it might. It is really pretty.

if this is true it kinda cheapens my purchase i thought it was getting something one of a kind not something dyed

I really hesitated saying anything, i do not enjoy making people feel bad, especially fellow hobbiests. But i did feel you should know, because your lfs should have told you, the fact he did not really stinks! And because of the low survival rate, i would return it, and scream fraud if he doesn't give you a full refund. I know even with all my experience i would have bought the one i saw if lfs hadn't been honest and told me about it.
