I just purchased another puffer after losing one to a power head and he's acting kinda slugish. Just laying on the sand bed, my other puffer did this just before he died.
My old puffer was always all over the tank but this one just lays around, is this normal?
If i lose another puffer i'm gonna freak

Tank params are good, all other fish are fine.

Lots of puffers are actually very lazy, I never had a porc, so I wouldnt know. But usually it will take a fish a few days after they are put in a tank to start swimming and get more active. Good Luck

puffer are kinda lazy fish as it goes take a close look at his eyes do they appear clear or hazed ? porcs have a bright blue appearance all others have more apparent irises and defined pupils I have found the eyes of a puffer to be very clear barometers in how they feel hazing or bluish tint in non porcs.lack of blue in porcs. both are a sign of something not just right . check your ph levels first i found mine to be at best with 8.3 ph if the ph drops just one point he becomes sluggish.if it drops to 8.1 he will begin to hide and at times wont eat.until i raise the levels back up to 8.3 and hes normaly back to his normal self within minutes of dosing with buffer.be sure you have a good water flow inthe tank keeping oxygen levels at their best.this also tends to creat sluggishness in fish.

I agree with unleashed, my porc puffer tends to get very sluggish when PH is under 8.2. Otherwise he is learning to come out in the daytime when people are around and wanting attention. The first couple of weeks all he did was hide or lay on the sand. Now that he is used to his new surrondings he is doing great. I was told by the LFS and people on this site to watch his eyes to make sure they were clear. The LFS said this is usally a first sign if they are under stress or if something is wrong.
