Just got a beautiful powder blue tang last night and put him in my 90. he was spotless. however him and the purple tang had some tussling going on. i wake up this morning and it looks like he has 2 tiny little cuts(i hope) on either side of him... this is how the tangs fight correct? slamming into each other trying to cut the other one? if so i think i will be fine with thinking its a cut.. seeing as how it really looks like a little cut anyway. im just paranoid.. im going way out of my comfort zone here with tangs but i figured i would go for it... hard to get a pic of it due to the size of the injury .. he dont seem to be bothered.. on the other hand he is "scratching" on rocks. but its hard to classify it as scratching it looks like he just nudges them with his head while swimming by .. my canary wrasse does that and hes in tip top shape..
so thats the questions..
tangs do try and slice each other correct?
probably just a cut from them figuring out whos boss?
heres the best i could do..the red circle is kinda thin sorry.(and no i dont mean the black line on his fin)

Unfortunately, cuts imposed by tangs can be rather serious and cause infection. The aggression could and likely will continue. Can you remove this fish to a QT?

they seem to be ok now... i dont know they just ... worked it out? they both ate together and did not have issues. *shrug* i dont have anywhere to put the powder .. besides back at the lfs which if it does pick up again i dont want the fish to die so i will take him back.

If they are fine now then I would not worry. Power struggles always happen when a new guy joins the ranks. Add a rotation of Vitachem and Zoecon to the food. He should heal up nicely.

Powder blue tangs are very sensitive emotionally and get stressed out real easy. They are ich magnets. You really needed a QT for a powder blue. JMO

ANY tang should be treated prior to going into a DT and all purchases should be quarantined.
