New Powder Blue Tang - Shy

I introduced a Powder Blue tang into my tank yesterday and there is a little bit of aggression between him and my Clown Trigger. The Tang is twice the size of the Trigger so I would not have thought that the Trigger would show too much aggression. I assume that the Clown Trigger is trying to claim his territory. How long on an average should this continue?
Also, I placed some Tenera on both sides of the tank so the Trigger could and Tang could eat in peace but the Tang has not yet taken an interest. Is it common for a new fish to not eat at first? If so how long can this go on and not affect the health of the fish?

No matter what way or combonation you put them...a clown trigger is meaner thasn most anything. I have one that is 10 inches long. He is crazy. I also had him with a Sohal Tang. They never never got along...at most tolerated each other enough to survive. But, the trigger will run that tank. Adding another fish after him is not good... it invades his territory. Take both out and put them aside for a bit... redo all the decorations and add them both back at the same time. They should re-territorialize. If not, that trigger MIGHT live with the tang... but he will probably kill it. Powder Blues are fragile... I am adding one to my reef. Oh yeah... clowns like to dirty the water.... powder blues need to have it pristine. Good luck. :)

something else about the PB.. they get diseased very easily and your trigger might be enough to stress him out. I agree with hairtrigger..turn out your lights and move things around and see if this confuses the trigger and he might just back off. If not I would remove one or the other.

Man, I am disappointed to hear that they get diseased so easily. But Itchy, do you think a UV sterilzer helps with that a great deal. Because I have one running... but I know there are other diseased besides parasite infestations. I really like the PB's too.:)
