Well ive finally tired of tinkering with the Coralife SS 125 and upgraded to a MSX160 .The CLSS125 worked fine on the 75 but since ive upgraded to a 125 DT it was time for a new skimmer.I have read good things and no bad about the MSX and the price was right so i ordered it today. When it arrives ill post the results.

Tagging along, I am more than likely getting a MSX200 in a couple of weeks, let us know how you like it. The only problem I have heard is with the impeller starting up spining the wrong way when using the mesh wheel. I plan on just using the pinwheel and adding ozone to mine. Good luck with yours.

I was going to get the MSX200 but i dont have the room in my sump
so I had to settle for the 160.From what i understand though it will do more than a fine job.

Yeah, it should do just fine, I may to go with the smaller one, I still am up in the air a little on this one, either the 160 or the 200, I just like the fact it is 8" reaction chamber vs. the 6", my sump is just a rubbermaid tub, so it is pretty versatile with moving things around and space issues. I may have to go get another one though because of the 8-10" water level in the sump, mine is only 6". Good luck, let us know when you get it.

just go with the 200 if u have the money and space..if u plan to upgrade ur tank later u can still use the skimmer...and more skimming wouldn't hurt..

MSX has been running for about 10 hrs and its already starting to produce some nasty looking nog on the top of foam .i think i may have to open here up some and forget about leaving her closed for 24 hours.
Here is a pic of the MSX tuned in a little.

Nice. I modded my Nautilus with a NW pump along with a Mag 9.5 and modded venturi and it is now working like a champ(running two pumps on it though), I still am going to get one of these in a few weeks. Looks awesome.

when I first set mine up I had the water level up into the tube a bit, I had to lower it as it broke in. I would recommend setting the water level at the point where the body starts to taper for a while until it breaks in good. Then you can adjust it from there depending on whether you like to skim wet or dry.
I remeshed my pump with four layers of mesh and had to lower the water level about an inch below the taper. It is right about in the middle of the SWC sticker now.

Thanx for the advice joncat24.How do you have you return pipe set? Ive been reading guys have been cutting theirs 1" below water line other angling it so its around 1" under surface to relieve some back pressure and getting better results.

I have mine angled so that the top part of the outlet pipe is just barely out of the water. Just enough to not splash, if you know what I am saying.
