I just bought this monti its mounted on a 1-1/2" frag disk. Its a rainbow monti but it has yet to grow out to see the full rainbow yet. The full frag was at the LFS when I bought this and it was beautiful
What would be a good price for this

OH I am not selling this my friend I have been waiting to get a rainbow and superman monti for a very long time. I paid $30 for this piece, I thought that was a steal. I havent seen a rainbow monti online anywhere for less than $50.00 for the size I have. I have seen 3/4" pieces for less but not this large.

eh, doesn't look like anything special - but then again, it might just be the lighting. Personally, I like superman monti's better.
But then again, I do like monti caps.

When they are small all rainbows look like this. Unless the frag came from an outter edge. When they grow out, they change color the base always stays a shade of blue but may lighten as it grows larger, the polyps will change from green to orange to yellow to red as it encrusts, this is where you will see the rainbow colors appear. I bought if for what it will be not for what it looks like now.
Once it grows out this is what it will look like...

that is pretty cool. Is it easy to grow out and frag? I might try and make some money off of frags if it's worth it!

They are one of the more expensive color morphs, but not the most expensive by any means. Tyree rainbow monti is the one of choice but they are very expensive. From what I have read they are relatively fast growers under the correct conditions. High light, moderate flow, good water quality. Supplemental feedings of phyto, zoe and cyclops are recommended.

sure looks like pokerstar monti to me as does the price. there's usually a waiting list for rainbow when it becomes available. without seeing the colony it was fragged off of how would you be sure?

I put an actinic only over them last night and wow.. the centers of all the outside polyps are turning orange and yellow. Not all of them about half but they are already starting to change color...

Nice piece
. I got a frag of superman and pokerstar dirt cheap from my LFS because they browned out a bit. Hopefully they'll color up.
