New Reef Questions?

I have a 150 gallon beginning reef tank. I use Reef Crystals salt mix. (Marineland)
#1. Do I have to add any other additives if I change 10-15% of the water every week?
I use around 12-15 gallons of R/O DI water to top it off every week.
#2. Should I add additives to this water? If so which ones?
I want to make it as simple as possible, any help would be great. Thanks

I have a 150 also, and like you, keep it simple. I change about 30 gal out every 2/3 weeks, top of with fresh R/O daily. You don't need to add anything to your water if levels are good. I was having some trouble with my cal for awhile and added a buffer for awhile, but it is fine now. I do add food for corals and fish, and occasiona;;y alittle iodine , thats it.

Here are afew, tanks only been up for 5 months, so still a long way to go. Lost the PB 2 months ago, and my camera stinks lol. Last pic is over 2 months old, added more rock and corals since it was taken. I will try to take some recent full tank shots later.

Very nice. So all you do in that tank is chage water. Do you have a powerhead under you rockwork? I will try to take a few pics of mine and post them. I appreciate the help and I might have a few more questions in the near future. Thanks

No powerhead inside the rock. I have 1 behind it, on the left, you can see it in the last pic. One blowing on the rocks and one at the surface, those 2 are hard to see, they match my black background.
I would love to see some pics of your tank, and i will get afew more recent ones taken first chance I get. Any questions you have ask away!

sweet tank. One day I will post a few of mine. I have another question. Should I add Trace Elements to the tank even though I change 30 gallons out every other week? Thanks again.

No need to add anything with frequent water changes. I do add alittle iodine to help my inverts to molt, it is also good for many corals, especially zoos. Once inawhile a colony will get weird on me and I take it out and brush it gently with a soft brush and put it in an iodine bath for 15 minutes, that usually gets them to open again.
