new reef tank

hi i just set up my reef tank and wil be adding some corals in about a week or a week and a half....i dont really want to spend all the money at the lfs because they are outragous, i was just wondering if anyone had anything available.....thanks...eric

Your tank should sit for a while before you dump alot of money down the toilet. Just trying to prevent you from losing money. Your tank needs to cycle a while before you add corals to it.

thanks for the advice but im not that new at this....ive had the tank setup for easily a month and a half....and had the water tested many times....right now there is a blue damsel...osceleras in there with a fire fish...thanks

Dont take this the wrong way but you should wait. You may not be new at this but your tank is. Its only a month and a half old and needs to mature somemore. I know its hard to wait with all the wonderful coral out there but the slower you take this hobby the more rewarding it is.

If you have a tank that is < 2 months old I would not put something as sensitive and valuable as a clam in it.:nope: A tank is considered new if it is less than 6 months old and is not considered mature until after it is set up for more than a year.
Do you have MH Lighting? If not, a clam will not survive. In effect, you will be killing it slowly. Like the last guy said, take it slow, your wallet will thank you for it.

alright thanks for the advice..i dont have MH but i have 6 watts per gallon....i might look into them down the road....do you have and good starter corals then?..and if so then how much?
