I just added my 1st coral to my tank and everything is looking very good. I do have 3 questions and need some advice.
1st After a few days of adding a Xenia to my tank i noticed my Blue velvet damsel picking at it every once and a while. I thought they were supposed to be reef safe. any ideas? I was thinking of getting rid of it.
2nd I want to add some coral or ameneties for my 2 Maroon clown fish, any suggestions?. I have pleanty of room since i only have 1 coral (very small) in the tank.
3rd I have noticed that little green stuff has been growing at the bottom of the tank (on the LS) Is this something that i need to get rid of or is their fish taht i can get to take care of it?. My clean up crew is kind of small. I have 4 hermit crabs and 10 turbo snails. I also have a yellow tang, Coral Beauty, Pearscale butterfly and my 2 maroon clown fish. My thank is a 55 gal w/ 50 lb of LR. I was thinking of getting a Goby, any suggestions?
Thanks

They are generally reef safe, but some may nip at corals. You may want to get rid of such an aggressive fish in the long run anyways.

If you want to add amenities you might consider a hot tub, or free breakfast. If you're looking to add anemones, you will need a mature (>6 month) tank, strong lighting (VHO/MH), and pristine water conditions.

If you have problems with algae with those livestock then I would say that you need to increase your cleanup crew, especially sandsifters. I would recommend Nassarius Snails.
Also, I hate to say it, but I hear the tang police coming. Your tank is overstocked as it is...no goby. JMO

Consider taking out the damsel...they just get more aggressive with time.I had one that also nipped a few corals from time to time..I think he did it out of spite.Yellow watchman or bicolor blenny would be cool.
Pearscale butterfly will be the next problem for you if you want to keep corals.
Get alot more experience and do alot of research before getting an anemone....about 2% live in the hobby.
I agree with a larger clean-up crew...some cerith and trochus snails along with the nassarius would be good.
