I'm still a baby to the hobby, but I've already noticed how light my wallet is now. Here's a pic of my setup. It's been up for just over 2 months now. Let me know what you think.

You do have a MH on that don't you? What other kind of light do you have on it or is that it? Oh yeah, Welcome to the board:D

Very nice looking system for only 2 & 1/2 months!
Provide details...circulation/lighting/additives/filtration etc.
Any problems with the clams in such a young system?
Very interesting assortment of corals. Best of luck as it developes and Welcome to the Board!

The substrate is a mix of crushed coral & ls. I don't have MH but it does worry me that you ask(what in the tank am i killing?) I have 110w of pc. A custom skimmer powered by a rio 600 and a CAP 1200 return. 40lbs of florida aquacultured lr. Use only RO water I get from the grocery store(a tip I picked up from the board) and I add kent iodine, calcium, & Stronium/moly. The clam has been fine so far. I know the tank is young, but it was a great deal at a lfs. Let me know what I'm doing wrong, or if there are any suggestions.

i have to disagree, I only have 110 watts of light in my tank and my corals are doing fine, I also have a friend who has a tank with one more light than me and she has tree sponges and bubble corals and many other things all faring well. I belive alot of it is light but some of its exaderated how much you really need---
one mans opinion:rolleyes:

The fact is that clams WILL stay alive under less than MH. The question is- for how long. The answer is-this thread will probably live longer than the calm. The sad part is that people come here for advice, get it,then do what they want anyway. All we can do is continue to "tell it like it is".

So by the sounds of it I would be better off with a mh in addition to my pc's. How many watts would i need? There is still some room in my canopy and I already have a fan installed.

It looks like a 29,is it? Sorry,I just noticed. With a 2 month old system I can't suggest you keep clams, even with MH.
