New rescue fish

I work at a LFS and a few weeks ago we had a very nice, large unicorn tang come in. However it go a bad case of pop-eye and lost both its eyes. Because we cannot leave fish like that out on the floor i was moved to the hospital system. There it healed over, and started eating again. It was good and all as he was eating but he had a hard time turning as he was very big. So he is now acclimating to my 285g tank. As of now theres nothing that will pick on him so he should be fine. My largest fish was less then three inches (1/3 his size) Will have pics up soon hopefully. Any advice would be welcomed.

Bless his little heart.
Great thing you did in deciding to rescue him instead of giving up on him. Kudos to you! Please keep us posted on how he does!

The hospital system it was in had antibiotics and was treated with several medications weakly. He lived there for about a month so his eyes have healed up as much as they are going to do. Theres nothing left to be infected and im adding vitemens to his food.

Just wanted to let everyone know that he is eating. Its really sad to see him eat but he does. I have to hand feed him and move the food as close to his mouth as possible. He must smell the food as he can find the general area. I like to believe he still has a little vision in his right eye. Its mostly there and he focuses it on different things.

Great job on the rescue man, very cool of you. Not many people would dare to take on that challenge. Looks like you've done a great job so far and I wish you and your little fish bud the best of luck!

Eye infections don't usually result in the eyes disappearing. Was aggression involved?
Anyway, kudos to you for taking on this responsibility.

The exact details of how he lost his eyes i dont know. I was told it was a very bad case of pop-eye. What ever the story i think he's as happy as he can be.

Congrats on the rescue. Seeing that fish without an eye for some reason breaks my heart. I can't imagine the pain of losing an eye and can't imagine being blind. Wow, that's sad. Glad it's in a good home.

Ok, Not To Be Cruel, But Is It Humane To Keep Alive A Fish That Can No Longer See? There Are Some Freshwater Species That Have Evolved Not To Have Eyes. But An Aquarium Fish Can't Possible Understand Why It Can No Longer See, I Think It's Cool To Try To Save It, But Is That Really The Compassionate Thing To Do?
