New sand

I have a 75 gal with 4-5" dsb. It is playsand, but comming along nicely with the 50 lbs lr I put in. I came across a 20lb bag of caribsea agri live reef sand and put it in on top...Wow it looks a ton better and I want to go ahead and spend the cash and do my whole dsb with it. How would I do this since my dsb is 6 months old. Will it crash my tank to remove all of it.
What would be the best method of working this out. Secondly what should I do with the old sand. I hate to toss it out since it does have some good life in it?

If you remove the sand and do just argonite you will disturb your whole tank and may even cause it to cycle. I am not sure on this but it sounds like you would have to take everything out of your tank(causing some die off on your lr) and then remove the sand(causing dieoff there too) put in your new stuff and then your rock. use the other stuff for your qt tank or another tank or seel it or give it away.
