that's normal. It will disappear. Give it some time, your coraline will grow just fine.

Well I guess Ill wait it out. One of the reasons I setup a new tank with a feruge was to try to stop this stupid algae growth, In my 55 I was allways battaling hair algae. But it was green now I have brown

You can get a turkey baster and blow some off, siphon it during water changes. Dont worry, it will go away.

Don't get too upset over it. It's just part of the cycle, it won't stick around and if you get a good clean up crew that will most certainly help.

I have had it set up for 13 days now and All I have put in it is 50lbs of live rock and 60 lbs of baserock. I wasnt for sure when I should start adding some critters to the tank What do yall think should I go ahead and add something or wait. 3 days ago I check the water and
ammonia was .25
ph 8.4
nitrate 0
I'm going to check it all tonight and see were its at.

I would wait, but that's just me. U don't want to rush anything as you could end up really disappointing yourself...

Once ammon. is "0", then start testing for Nitrite, this is the part of the cycle before nitrate. But continue to do partial water changes. What are you using to cycle, just the rock?

I got that diatom algie all over my stuff. the clean up crew consists of a few snails and some blue leg hermits. I have heard to let it go so i am. I couldent resist cleaning it off the glass but i find the cleanup crew is always busy and my damsels or green mandarin pick at it once and a while so I am just going to let it do its thing. even with the algie growth I am starting to see the first promises of good corraline growth. nice pinks and purples.

Fishamajig - how long has your tank been set up, you have a manderin?? They should only be kept in VERY well established tanks.

I didi not know that my lfs told me that it was cool to put him in now. Its been set up for about 2 months i saw him picking at the lr and he ate some brine shrimp the first day i put him in there. my levels seem ok. and i am going to be getting more rock so he has enough pods to pick on
