new setup

so i moved to my new place ... and started a new 55 gal.
however, the pump stopped working for days while i was moving and everything died in the tank (fish, hermits, crabs, and corals) ... so i emptied the tank, kept some of the live sand wet and did the same with the live rock (some were submerged, other not).
so i filled up the tank over the weekend, added 60 lbs aragonite not rinsed (i should have but oh well) ... setup the salinity at 1.024, put the live rocks in ...
water is clearing up now ... i turned on the skimmer and it created an excessive amount of foam which overflew the skimmer (i have a cpr bak pak 2r)
is this normal?

I would think the skimmer would go nuts being that there was probably die of from the rock and from the sand possibly....And with the sand not being rinsed that might be another reason the skimmer went nuts...

was the foam dark colored or very light? if it was dark then yes your tank has to much waste in it due to die off, but if its light then check your air water mixture
