New skimmer. Bubbles not reaching cup. What am I doing wrong?

Do I have the water return valve open too far? Is it breaking in? Whats going on? This is my first skimmer, so dumbing it down a bit will be helpful :) I know the oils & such is what makes it need to break in. is that what makes the bubbles not reach the cup?

You can probably find quite a few good answers to this by googling, it's a common question.
A big part of it is breaking in. Depending on the aquarium and your filtration this may take days or weeks. If it's already been a while and there's no difference, try messing with the intake power and the bubbles. Some skimmers require a bit more tweaking than others.
What skimmer is it?

Reef octopus 110. Playing with the bubbles is when u open & close the water return valve right?

Do you have the water intake valve open all the way?
If you open the water intake valve all the way and then dial the water return valve down a bit, it will push the bubbles up in the right spot. regardless if it needs to break in or not.

Ok, I think I have it more dialed in so the bubbles are at the top but they dont dump into the cup too quickly... NOW.... The bubbles dont seem very small (not sure quite how small theyre supposed to be) but they dont seem very small. How do I keep the bubbles flowing at the same rate but make the bubbles smaller?

Enkamat modified needle wheel. lol!
Just let it break it for a bit and see if that helps some. If it doesn't, then look into mesh mods. I'm pretty sure that you will be happy with your results in the next week or two.
