New Skimmer pleas help

Just got my octopus nw-150 model protein skimmer, it was making sure everything was working properly. I filled up my tub with fresh water and ran the pump I noticed the skimmer wasnt producing fine bubbles like skimmers should be. Is this because I used fresh water? Also does any body have any suggestion on breaking the skimmer in(vinegar)??? Or easy mods?

Your hypothesis about the freshwater is correct. Freshwater will not "fractionate" properly into foam. It sounds like everything is working hunky dory considering you are using freshwater.

take a small bucket. idk if your skimmer is a over the back or is going in a sump directly. just make a small bucket of saltwater mix and let it run
