New sump/Fuge/replacing old filter

Hello All,
I am going to replace my Toms Rapids pro filter with a brand new sump/fuge. Will I have any problems with this new addition? Is it possible to have a mini cycle? Is this not recommended? I have a 75 gallon reef tank that has been running for around 9 months. I would say the sump/fuge will hold about 15 gallons of water.
Thank you.

It is possible to have a mini cycle, I just rebuilt my sump a few weeks ago and had it offline for about 4 days and my nitrates started climbing from less than 5ppm to 25ppm at which point I put my sump back into service and before everything leveled out and started dropping again my nitrates peaked at about 40ppm even with several water changes. So be on standby to start doing some water changes I never thought my sump would be such a large part of my filtration. You may want to look at using a larger sump if you are going to have a refugium. I have a 30g sump and had trouble fitting my skimmer, return pump, and a decent size fuge in it ended up just mounting my skimmer externally to save space. When it was all done though I have about 25g of water in the sump and can evaporate about 5g total without running anything dry and gives me about a 5-6 days of operation if I leave and can't add top off water.
