New Sump???

Hello everyone,
I'm really would like to build my own 20gl sump for my tank. The question I have is what sealant(s) would be okay to use to attach the plexiglass dividers to the glass tank. And where is it available. Thanks ahead of time!

WOW someone else in NH It's great to find another "fish geek" local. You can find silicon sealent at your local home depot,they make some that is for use in all aquariums and is non toxic. I would suggest that you scuff up the edge of the plexi so that the silicon will stick better and that should do ya.

Thanks for the Info!!! I've been on this board for a while now, but have not posted much lately. I figured that I could use silicon, but I didn't know if they made anything that would not poison the tank!
I guess I should change my "location" now. I moved twice since I've changed it.....there, it's done!!

Just remember that most silicon IS TOXIC to your tank and ONLY "aquarium silicon" should be used, which you can still get at your local HD. So how did your tanks handle the "couple" moves?? Do you have any pics??
I plan on gettin my new 105g set up soon and will be looking some "Good" LS w/"critters" to seed a DSB would you be able to donate/sell any?? My LFS over here dosen't sell LS

The tank has survived quite well. The last move was only two weeks ago, so not everything is back up and running yet. I don't have much for fish in there right now, but the ones I do have survived! I don't have any pics of this tank yet. The only pics I have are of my old 37gl.
Good luck with the 105gl. I would love to get a bigger tank, but that won't be until I get a house. I won't want to move it. I've got "some" live sand that I could spare, but not a lot. I don't know if it would be enough to seed a 105gl? What are you using for sand. I used the southdown and from HD, and it works and looks great. It is much cheaper than the sand from a LFS, and with the LR the sand gets seeded that way over time.

I use Dow brand silicon. The thing to look out for is the mildew inhibitor, or the lack of it! That inhibitor will kill your tank. Dow makes one that is 100% silicon, and says "safe for food contact." That one is okay to use. It's about $4 per caulk sized tube. The other stuff you buy at a pet store will cost more than twice that.

My next trip to HD (probly in the morn.) I'll find the brand name that says "for aquariums".
Glad to here the moves went well and the fish are doing good.
I'm going to use mostly south down and a lil' CaribSea. Hey I love the southdown just cuz of the price. I went and bought a 30# of the caribsea sand from LFS and paid $30 Then I found this wonderfull BB and heard about the SouthDown Went to HD in Concord and picked up 250# for a lil' under $25
When I'm ready to fill the tank, I'll let you know and maybe I could swing over your way and get a lil' bit LS. I figure if I can get just a lil' bit from a few different people it'll give my new DSB a nice lil' kick start

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you my entire computer crashed and had to go get new on. (of course its bigger and faster ). Since I'm so late you might already have your new sump done, but I did go to HD to check on the silicon for you.
Made by "DAP" "Aquarium sealent" 100% silicon.
If you have allready done your sump hope it came out nice

I haven't had the chance to do the sump yet. A lot of stuff has been going on and I haven't had the time. Thanks for checking that out for me. I'm actually planning on going to HD tonight. That info will save me some time!!! If you still need some sand, let me know!
That stinks that your computer went down. Atleast it makes it a little easier to swallow when the new one is better.
