New Tang.

Okay my husband got me a Chevron Tang Friday night. It ate really well at the LFS. But so far I have not gotten him to eat anything for me. He is pecking at the back of the tank and he is swimming really well. I spoke with the fish store guy today and he said to give it a week. They had this fish for about a month and he did great for them. How long should I give it? I do soak the food in garlic and selcon.

Mystic (sp) and brine shrimp with garlic. Seaweed select and omega one flake food. Not all at one time. I check on him and he is still pecking at the back of the tank and on the rocks.

Tangs are grazers, and eat mostly vegetarian foods. Do you have a lettuce clip so that you can just clip the seaweed in the tank?

I use two one for the back where he hides. He does just graze all day. He is coming out more.
Today I cannot find my damn wrasse, he is hiding some place.

Hey, its good to see that you want to take good care of your fish. Observing them and learning their individual behaviors is something that should be done. That way, when something is wrong, you will know it sooner rather than later.
If you have a good amt of algae on your rocks, the tang will probably pick the supply dry in short order, then he'll be ready to eat more of what you offer him.

I have another fish question. My Fox Face is being a freak for some reason. Just this week, I know 2 days he is picking at my toadstool and star polyps. He is making me nuts and today he had his fins up and is being an ass. is he hungry or since I am being such a freak with the new fish is he pissed b/c I am bothering him too much. I have had him for about 8 months or so.

I know you probably posted this a while ago, but just an FYI. My purple tang grazes on the back of the tank and rocks all day along with my Koran Angel. Granted he does eat brine and osi spirulina flakes. But if he is grazing all day then he is eating.
