new tang

Just got a silver dollar size yellow tang yesterday for the 60g...it had a little bit of a cloudy eye in the 20g tank it was in at the LFS...aclimated it and it ate a garlic soaked 3 x 3 inch piece of seaweed (marine selects/ or cusine?) today...it spends most of its time hiding behind the rockwork...I left the lights out all evening yesterday while it was aclimating....it has started to come out a little bit this evening and swim the length of the tank...
Got it that seaweed food, veggie flake, and different kinds of frozen stuff, like brine and squid...soaking it all in garlic...
Hopefully the cloudy eye will clear up...it looks a little better this evening already...the fish ate for almost 2 hours grazing on the seaweed...
Its the only fish inthe tank now, so it should be happy..

Very glad you chose the yellow tang:cool: And though i know it won't stay that way for long, I bet it's really happy to have that tank all to itself.
Hope the eye clears up.

I've had a yellow in my 58 fish only for close to 30 months now...it was added as a 2"-3" juvinile and is now about 5"-6" in length. Despite all the warnings about never keeping a tang in such a small system mine has been healthy and stress free...and in all honesty I expect to keep my yellow where it is for a long while. Eventually it may need to be relocated...but within a few years that will not be a problem at all.
I would be concerned about the "cloudy eye"...I'm not very experienced in disease/parasite related matters. So you may want to consult the experts over in the disease forum. It may be treatable...but the folks over there can provide information and resources to help you heal your tang.
