Bought a tank from a guy I found here in the trading forum. Pretty good deal and a really nice tank so I thought I would share some pics. Specs are....
40 gallon breeder
cpr overflow (that's gonna change soon)
AquaC Urchin skimmer w/Rio 600 pump
2 65 watt PC 10000K bulbs
Single strip NO actinic bulb
15 gallon sump
Rio return pump
One maxijet PH
50 lbs of nice Fiji LR
Maroon clown (anyone know the ---?)
Yellow Tang (yeah, I know, so what)
Green Chromis
Huge brittle star
Coral banded shrimp (added last week by me)
assorted cleaners
I paid $400 for the whole setup and the move wasn't too bad. Notice the clown looks like it's hosting in that middle rock like it's a throne. It sits there all day and chases the chromis away when it gets too close. The clown and tang seem to like each other though and hang close for the most part of the day. I want to go full blown reef with this tank.Any comments and/or suggestions are welcomed. Enjoy.

I want a 40 gallon breeder. Nice tank. If you want full reef, I would recommend switching over to a VHO setup.

VHO is prettier, but im biast. I am going to either setup a 40 gallon breeder, or have custom tank built with near the same dimensions in about a year and a half. It will most likely be lit with nothing but VHO. Planning on housing a lot of LPS and softies. Prolly no SPS though, although SPS does just fine under enough VHO.

Yeah, still got the 92 aggressive although I'm treating ich right now with hypo. It really sucks, what a lot of work but it's worth it. I guess the tusk brought it. Cycling a quarantine tank now. Gotta learn the hard way I guess. Trust me though I only have to learn hot once. SO popular opinion says halides for SPS but you think VHO would do the trick? I worry about heat issues with halides in such a shallow tank.

Thats why I think VHO would be fine. Cause a 40 breeder is only like 16" deep right? But you could put at least 6 VHO bulbs over it. That would be plenty IMO. Or you could go crazy and run two 150 watt MH with two VHO actinics as supplement.

I have halides on that exact tank just smaller version and don't have any heat issues. Just make sure and keep it about 6-12 inches from water. That is if you are talking about your 92g but you may be talking about the 40g.

Yeah, I'm talking about the 40 gallon. The 92 stays aggressive until I get my 180. For now I'd like to do SPS and clams in the 40 so halides will probably be my best option.
