new tank and live sand

I just got my new 29gallon tank.

I am going to the beach this weekend and thinking about getting some live sand out of the ocean to cure in my tank before I add any live stock. Is this a good idea or a bad one? i don't see tha it could hurt since there is nothing in it yet. At this point there is not any water in it.

When getting sand from the beach you will have pollution.

I agree. You will have a lot of contaminents that your test kits don't test for.

Its a chance that I would'nt take. No reason to possibly start off on the wrong foot.
